It is obvious to me that there is a wide spread misunderstanding of how immunity and how theoretically vaccination is supposed to work to develop immunity. Sadly enough this mis-information is promoted by the very establishment that is held as the authority of all health information in this country.
Here are some simple basics about vaccines that should be common sense for any thinking adult.
* Vaccines only work for people who do not currently have the disease that they are trying to prevent. You cannot get a Gardasil vaccine and logically expect it to protect you from cancer caused by any of the 4 types of HPV that the vaccine, in theory, protects against if you have already contracted any of those 4 types.
* Vaccines DO NOT provide instant immunity (if at all), which is why those that do choose to vaccinate have to get them repeatedly and then receive several boosters and later intervals. If you get one vaccine of which is normally given in a series, you have likely not achieved any type of protective immunity.
* The basic way that vaccines supposedly create immunity is by exposing the body to a weakened or dead strain of said pathogen, creating an immune response and antibodies that will recognize and know how to rid the body of this pathogen with ease if it comes in contact with it again. This is why it doesn't work if you already have the disease. Further, depending on the type of infection if you catch it naturally, upon recovery you should have already developed a superior natural immunity to the infection that no vaccine to date can compete with.
Now, here are some excepts from a clinical report by the American Academy of Pediatrics entitled Responding to Parental Refusals of Immunization of Children. Later, I will also highlight some of the manipulative tones, word choices, and logical fallacies perpetuated by the article in order to create and promote and unwarranted view of parents that choose not of vaccinate; thus driving a larger wedge between educated parents who disagree with certain aspects, of allopathic medicine & the medical professionals that claim to always work for our best interest.
"PARENTAL REFUSALS AND THE BEST INTERESTS... Only in rare cases in which the decision of a parent places a child at substantial risk of serious harm may the health care
professional be obligated to involve state agencies in
seeking to provide the necessary immunization over
the parents’ objections. For example, for the situation
in which a child has sustained a deep and contaminated puncture wound, it might be justifiable to challenge the decision of a child’s parents to refuse treatment with tetanus vaccine.
Now scientifically, this statement is just another on top of probably hundreds that truly make me question and refuse to simple trust medical institutions has having sound judgement, integrity, interest etc. This statement goes against all logical knowledge of how vaccines work, yet its common practice and advice in the situation above. If you do, some how, obtain yourself a contaminated puncture wound, this is the absolute WRONG time to vaccinate against those possible contaminants. A more logical plan of treatment is to employ an antibiotic known to be responsive in killing the likely contaminants. A vaccine could not possible help if you have already been infected with the contaminants! This boils down to fear mongering, harassment and manipulation of a parents emotions in order to apply another unnecessary treatment to raise profits for the establishment not for your or your child's health.
Here are some other excerpts from a medical website "educating" about tetanus but obviously advocating for the vaccine above all else
What causes tetanus?
Tetanus is caused by a powerful nerve toxin (or poison) produced by the bacterium Clostridium tetani, which can be found anywhere there is soil and manure--in other words, just about everywhere.
Who gets the disease?
Anyone who has not been immunized or is not up-to-date on his tetanus immunizations is susceptible to tetanus. Babies born to mothers who have not been immunized against this disease are at particularly high risk of developing tetanus. Babies born to mothers who are up-to-date on their tetanus vaccine are protected because maternal antibodies readily cross the placenta and enter the baby's circulation. The disease is more common in males than females. In older children and adults, this may be because males are more likely to injure themselves than females. However, for reasons that aren't understood, baby boys are also more commonly affected than girls.
How is it spread?
Tetanus is contracted from the introduction of soil or manure directly into breaks in the skin (even tiny ones). It is not transmitted from person to person, or from animals to people. Your parents probably always warned you to be careful not to step on a rusty nail, and they were right--puncture wounds are one of the most common ways to get tetanus. The bacteria enter the body when the nail pushes soil (not rust!) into the body. They thrive particularly well in deep puncture wounds or cuts because they grow best when not exposed to oxygen. Although we usually associate tetanus with punctures or cuts, it can occur when there is any break in the skin, including those caused by animal bites, dental problems, or burns.
Newborns who are not protected by their mothers' antibodies most often acquire tetanus through contamination of the umbilical stump. It is a particularly common problem when babies are routinely delivered in the home under unhygienic conditions.
The statement that "anyone who has not be immunized or up-to-date on their tetanus immunizations is susceptible to tetanus" has absolutely no regard to natural ways to gain immunity. This statement promotes the heavily held and incorrect mentality that medical interventions are always superior to the natural mechanisms and protective physiology of the human body. The statement should at least include something to the effect that people who have already been exposed to tetanus naturally and babies of women who have been exposed to tetanus naturally will also have immunity to tetanus.
Tetanus is a disease caused by a bacteria found in contaminated soil and manure. To me this does not make me want to run out and start injecting people and babies with medicalized concoctions. To me it simply means, don't put your newborn in dirt or manure, don't touch your baby with out washing your hands properly, especially if you have been handling dirt or manure. I truly question who they were referring to when they say unprotected newborns usually get tetanus though contamination of the umbilical stumps. It is very likely that this information is dealing with people living in severely impoverished conditions with either the inability to maintain proper hygiene or without the proper education about simple things like hand washing, etc. For the average American parent this is completely farfetched and some what insulting. Any parent that loves their child is not going to touch their umbilical cord without properly sanitizing anything that should come into contact with it let alone anything that has been in DIRT OR MANURE! Its insane.
For children that are the age of unsupervised outdoor play, this is a little bit more sketchy because of course children do get injured while playing. Still in this case it is the responsibility of the parent to educate their children about safe play habits, hand washing, etc. Even still it is not likely that tetanus is lurking in every plot of soil or doggy doo on your front lawn. Its a hyperbole and exaggeration created in order to make people who disagree seem like unfit parents, and to persuade the individuals who have not taken a strong stand, and are not deeply educated about such matters, to sway in the direction of allopathy. If anyone out there has the access to laboratory facilities and would like to test reasonable surface levels of soil it would be interesting to know how often the tetanus bacterium are actually found. Further more it would make more sense to test a patient, wound, and or object responsible for the wound for the tetanus bacterium before injecting the patient with treatments and substances that may not be necessary for them.
The Q&A also stated that tetanus is particularly common with home births in unhygienic conditions. I think this is another statement that is taken out of context in order to take a swing at people who aren't slaves to allopathy. American families that choose home birth after much research and thoughtful deliberation are not likely to do so in an unclean way. I think the home births being mentioned in these statements are again from extremely impoverished and/or miseducated areas of the world or our own country even, but certainly not the average American who would give birth outside of a hospital setting or in their homes. This is manure and dirt we are talking about here! It is very insulting to suggest that most parents, homebirthers, etc would expose their children to dirt and fecal mater!
