Many people arguing for the truthful representation of the Ancient Egyptians have tried providing photos of the modern people in Egypt who are the most direct descendants of Ancient Egypt. These people make up a much larger percentage of the population than the Arab ruling, upper class, but are rarely publicized and are almost always referred to as Nubians by white tourists among others.
If you compare their photos to the paintings of Ancient Egyptians they look strikingly similar in skin tone, and facial features. They are mostly a light brown skinned, type of African Black, with kinky- to loosely curled, to wavy hair. Its hard to say how much variation in the modern population of Ancient Egyptian descendants is due to mixing with the recent Arab populations but there is truly and honestly no doubt about their likeness to their ancestors in Kemet. When you compare these, so called modern Nubians living in Egypt to both Nubians in Modern day Sudan and Ancient Nubia, they don't much match up. Its like playing those kids games where you have the different shapes blocks and they should fit in their appropriate hole; but the way society is mixing and matching things up I wonder if they would be able to play a game so simple.
On the other hand when you look at true modern Nubians, who mostly live in Sudan, modern day Nubia (go figure) they look much like the paintings of ancient Nubians with a darker brown to blackish complexion.
There are a few depictions of very light people in ancient Kemet, like Nefertiti. Her skin tone can most definitely be compared to that of many Arabs but then again if you just base the analysis of Ancient people's physical type on skin color alone you miss things. For example if you take the lighter skin toned blacks and compare them to some of the skin tones in Arabs they will be pretty similar. You would need to look at more characteristics than just skin tone, and take a wide range of samples to distinguish between them. Thankfully we can tell from in the paintings and statues what kind of hair type the Ancients had, and it was not of the common Arab type, it is African in both style and texture.
All of this seems to be common sense but, surprise, to plenty its not.
