Body

Many people in many different cultures around the world have referred to the Body as a vessel, a temporary home for the spirit or soul. Even those of us who share this view have often been guilty of forgetting this. We abuse, poison, mutilate, and doubt our bodies. We take for granted how excellently they were designed. Other times we place so much emphasis on how the Body appears that we forget about the internal up keep, even further we forget that it is only a vessel, and that the spiritual contents are what really matters.

This is a collection of writings on the body, health and how to maintain it in this increasingly hostile world. One of the main themes you might notice is the fact that preservation of physical health often leads to or connects with the spirit.

...

God divided life into physiologically different beings for a reason. One of the greatest of these divisions is the issuing of the responsibility of bringing in new life to women. God excellently designed women for the task, and we should have faith in that design. This collection also contains, advice, and information about pregnancy, birth, and motherhood from a spiritual, natural and informed point of view. This is not your medicalized spoon-feed industry benefiting mumbojumbo...this is the basic truth. You will also find some of my own experiences scattered about in hopes to inspire and aid women who are becoming or hope to become mothers. YOU WERE MADE FOR IT!

Quick Vaccine Facts for Lazy Parents

Yes, sure this title is a tad bit insulting. I did ponder changing it but the reason I am making this list is because of the overwhelming amount of people out there who still don't know what they are talking about. One parent on a article about Amanda Peet dissing parents who choose not to vaccinate said "What if you don't have a choice. If I decided not to let my kids get vaccinated, I would have to home school them...." I wonder if this parent ever thought about googling words like "vaccines" with other words like "exemption,  opt-out, options, choices". I wonder what this statement would look like if we took it out of the context of today and vaccines and considered say microchipping, the grandchild of vaccination; We might have something like "If I decide not to let my kids get chipped I would have to home school them...". This page is simply for the parents who find it difficult for what ever reason to search the web and evaluate information.

* Most vaccines contain toxic ingredients that the manufactures refer to as "purifiers" because when your read the word purified you will most likely think..."hmm pure--thats good huh?". These purifiers are bio killers like thimerosal (mercury) and/or the newer replacement formaldehyde to which there are NO safe dosages for the human body, let alone our newborns, infants and toddlers. They are used to kill or weaken the viral/bacterial concoction and or used as a preservative.

Let's Think: If mercury and formaldehyde are poisons, scientifically linked with serious, irreversible illnesses and even death; Is it a logical risk to take in hopes that subjecting ourselves and children to this will prevent disease that they may never catch, and are highly preventable via simple things like hand washing, and healthy care of one's own immune system? Its russian roulette really, we are gambling on whether the child will be poisoned or not when we inject them with these ingredients. Medical pamphlets supplied by drug companies…

Adverse Reactions to Gardasil (but is this really a shocker?)

I don't want to go into a long tirade about this as my stance on nearly all known vaccines is well known via the other articles I have written about them.

Parents that support vaccination argue that they do so because (in theory) it should protect their children & daughters from whatever the doctors, vaccine companies tell them it will protect them against.

And to these parents I say, if after your own research of vaccines (i.e. how they are made, what ALL of the ingredients are, who is making them and what is their track record as a company, what are the instances of success/failure (how many fully vaccinated people still get sick, how long have they been studied and on who and what kind of testing was done etc) you decide this is the best plan of action for you and your children, good for you--But on more topic than one I am really tired of people who don't know what on earth they are talking about proclaiming that anyone else with a different choice or idea is any range of negative words.

I have heard people say tons of bad things about people who choose not to be vaccinated or not to have their children vaccinated (maybe the are "tied into" the promotion of said propaganda). But I honestly don't know why they are so apposed as fully vaccinated people should be protected by the vaccines, and unvaccinated people should be the ones in danger with the inclusion of people with severely weakened immune systems that would probably die from a vaccine anyway (these people shouldn't even be in an environment so populated that they are exposed to everyone's pathogens)

...darn and here I am starting the tirade I said I wasn't going to.

Back on topic, Alternative prevention for HPV caused cervical cancer to the insufficiently tested and unsafe Gardasil vaccine is the old fashion way of actually talking to your children about safe sex and teaching them about diseases, pregnancy, abstinence and condom use if it becomes necessary. Risking your child's reproductive organs…

Cultural Norms That Work Against YOU!

Cultures are something that people often talk about in reference to someone else's. Your own tends to be this invisible field of normalcy, reality, that you don't differentiate from those other people. An anthropological perspective can not only help you to understand the cultures of other people objectively, and relatively, it can help you examine your own. By doing this, the invisible hand that molds your thoughts, your values, your habits, becomes visible. You can then analyze them as to whether they serve their purpose, and hopefully that purpose is some type of benefit to you, your family, your group, country, humanity, etc. If not its time to blow the whistle and make changes. Here are a list of concepts, ideas and norms you may have taken at face value without any actual analysis. In doing so you've probably fallen victim to culturally ingrained misconceptions. Even some of my own professors have done this.

Health

Birth: It is often subconsciously, if not directly, thought of and treated as an emergency, something the body can't do, wasn't designed to do, and will probably mess up, thus we need professionals to come in, and birth for us. Where does this misconception come from? Well there are tons of books written about the very subject. Here are the main ideas from all of those books. In the past women had social trends among the elite, like corseting & crash dieting. This led to pelvic deformity, and malnutrition manifesting in rickets and other diseases, even among rich people. Among impoverished there was also a number of malnourishment related complications. The women began to dread and fear birth, with real reason, but due to the abuse they had done to their own bodies, not because the body isn't capable by default. So they abandoned midwives over physicians who could drug them up, knock them out, and basically rip the babies out of them. Terrible things happen, parts of the body were removed by accident, babies died, doctors spread disease from person…

Coconut Oil, The Non-Fattening, Anti-bad stuff, Fat!

coconutCoconut oil, unlike most of the hydrogenated polyunsaturated oils found in supermarkets, does not tend to go to fat stores in the body, but instead is readily metabolized by the body for energy. My parents use this oil for weight loss. Once they came to my town for a visit and my father had lost a noticeable amount of weight, he was slim and trim, but I know neither of them actively or regularly work out. When I inquired about the change they said they swear by using coconut oil to loose weight. My father says he eats a few tablespoons of it a day, & his wife has changed to cooking with it as well.

I had already been using coconut oil in my hair and on my body, which was pregnant and stretching fast at the time. When they told me about this my husband started to cook with it more often. Recently we keep a huge supply of it in the house for cooking, baking, and eating, etc on a daily basis. Hopefully I see the same weight loss benefits they have seen with long term use as I have more of a pooch now than I did after giving birth!

There has been controversy as to coconut oil being saturated fat, potentially leading to high cholesterol & clogged arteries. This is really silly since coconut oil is a fine liquid at about 76 degrees, plus it is quickly metabolized and not stored in the body, therefore for both of these reasons coconut oil is not going to do any clogging in your body. Honestly I think this negative campaign might have been in order to increase sales of some other kinda of oils and staying with the conspiracy theorist in me, a way to continually steer the public away from everything that is good for us and the environment.

Some sites I see around the web have articles entitled "Coconut Oil & Weight Loss - IS IT A HOAX?" or "Does it REALLY Work?". I have to say I don't know what will work for every person, but the body needs fat to run. If you don't get enough your body will store it because it thinks you are starving. So using an oil that your body will…

Hemp Oil, Nutritional Perfection!

imageHemp is an underrated, over looked treasure chest of resources. The jewel in that chest that I'm going to discuss here is Hemp Seed/Hemp Oil. The special thing about this oil is the fact that it has a 3:1 ratio of omega 6 : omega 3 fatty acids + omega 9. This is the perfect ratio in terms of requirements by the human body. Hemp also contains all of the necessary amino acids. Essentially taking hemp oil as a supplement can successfully replace any other incomplete fatty acid supplement that you might already be taking. Hemp is sometimes referred to as a superfood because there is no other plant, let alone any man made concoction that has all of these essentials in a readily absorbable form. It promotes a healthy immune system, some suggest that eating hemp seed products could even heal people who suffer from immune deficiency diseases, including cancer by riding the body of carcinogens.

Don't worry you won't get "high", there are no significant levels of THC in hemp oil or most hemp products as a standard of production. Although there is some concern as to whether the oil consumption will produce a positive urine test. If there is some concern about this with your job, I would consider talking to your employer about this and showing them data about the levels that show up in urine from hemp seed consumption, so there is no confusion between drug use and your healthy diet. It is not illegal to use hemp products such as hemp oil which to do not produce a psychoactive reaction, and thus it probably isn't legal to be fired for eating hemp oil. Just be responsible and proactive if you think it might cause an issue.

The taste of hemp oil can be described as a nutty flavor. Its very mild and can be used to make salad dressings, special sauces or a replacement for olive oil in an oil and vinegar mix for sandwiches or bread dipping. It should not be used for cooking as, of course, the high temperatures will break down the abundant nutrients, which would really defeat the…

The Liquid Gold, otherwise known as HONEY!

There are quite a few misconceptions about honey, even amongst those that are familiar with the health and cosmetic applications of this glorious substance. I, myself only discovered these differences sometime last year and it has been a small, life changer for me & now I'd like to share these specific details with you.

Many of the other sites I've come across that promote honey as a healthy addition to ones life are also riddled with misconceptions about honey. They report that honey is a natural antimicrobial, and that it has been used to heal wounds and prevent infection, followed by the contradiction that honey should not be given to infants because of the potential for botulism infection. Any meticulously attentive person reading this would likely stop and think "how can something be antimicrobial yet be a risk for botulism infection?" The reason for this is the over processing common to most store bought foods and cosmetics that basically ruins any natural benefit a person could have gotten from the given substance, while simultaneously making the product unhealthy. We have an extreme myth that everything needs to be overheated and over processed to remove some hidden evil lurking in nature--but what we are often doing is removing nature's natural defenses and any of the nutrients we could have gained.

Honey_combsm2ONLY 100% natural raw UNHEATED above the temp of 96 degrees has the health benefits that the other sites mention. Its sad that most people don't know that our stores are slowly killing us by robbing us of nutritional value even when we try to make health conscious choices. RAW honey can typically only be purchased from health stores or from bee keepers (of course I order my supply of 100% RAW, UNHEATED honey from ebay). I have been giving my daughter 100% raw honey from a natural beekeeper since she was a young infant with amazing health benefits. She just turned 1 year old and has never been sick (she is also unvaccinated for similar health/spiritual…

Cycle #1 With The Menstrual Cup

This article contains information about my personal experiences with the menstrual device known as a menstrual cup. The information provided below is targeted towards females who are curious about menstrual cups, thinking about switching to them, or have already switched and experiencing any difficulties. If you have a personal aversion to topics dealing with periods or the female reproductive organs, please navigate away from this page.

20080219230144recordingSo, I ordered my Mooncup (UK, not to be confused with the Keeper's knock off) a while back. I got it from ebay, thats pretty much where I get everything since I have a very specific health oriented life style that most retail stores just can't accommodate. Those that do carry products I would purchase just don't do it at the right value to the customer. Any who, it arrived before my next period so I was able to try it out during the entire period. Since I have had my daughter my cramps have been extremely reduced, to the point when I am not aware of when my period starts. I used to be ready for it almost a day in advanced--but now its more of a bothersome surprise in the middle of the night in my bed. I have read in the cup support forums of women putting theirs in when they know they are due to start. Unlike a tampon the menstrual cup can be worn at anytime during your cycle without any of the health risks or discomfort in say, putting in a tampon before you've started. It also can be left in place for a good amount of time (up to 12 hrs) without needing to remove it, rinse/clean it, and reinsert; so its perfect for leaving in to catch your period, pun intended, right when it starts. I will consider this for cycle #2.

I get up, grab my Mooncup from the drawer with this kinda pubescent, girly excitement, although I am still pretty out of it since its was like 3:00am. I go to the bathroom, rinse the cup in the sink. It was being stored in the little pouch it came in since I boiled it the day it arrived. I hadn't cut the stem yet, and…

The Business of Being Born

I actually went to an early showing of this video on campus for extra credit. There was also a panel of local midwives of all kinds and an OBGYN that was in support of the movement, there to answer questions an provide and open forum for discussion after the viewing. One of the midwives I actually knew personally before the event as she was one I considered to deliver my daughter (I couldn't afford her nor could my family meet her generous offer to barter labor for her services, but she, along with a few doulas I was in contact with as well, did provide me with in-disposable advice and support at the end of my pregnancy).

Here is the trailer for the film, it really drives home the severity of the birthing crisis in the United States. And where logical explanations fail, television and movies seem to succeed! So its about time the movement employed media as their method of information transmission.

Visit their Official Site.

If you are in need of a midwife or doula in the Charlotte, NC area you can contact me for information or assistance finding one.

Vaccines = Poison + They Don't Work

I've warned a few of my friends and loved ones, especially those expecting babies or with young children, of the dangers and pointlessness of vaccination and I have gotten mixed reactions. Some of the most common reactions are negative to varying degrees. Examples include the person who plain out doesn't believe me no matter how much I explain the reasons why they don't work and are dangerous to our health. Others get some what angry. This is a common reaction when one's perception of reality is shaken. Its seems that vaccinations are one of those things that people believe in, to the core, despite evidence that shows they aren't a good thing nor are they the cause of the decreases we have seen in childhood and other illnesses.

I must admit that although I care greatly about the over all well being of humanity, I have grown tired of trying to convince people of the obvious truth. Everyone cannot be healthy, be saved, accept truth, live a happy life in the world as it is, thus I will direct my attention to those people who are thirsty for truthful alternative to mainstream and profiting sources of information who have simply not been aware of these truths; and save my breath in the full on convincing arena. There is no need for me to rebuild the wheel, as an abundance of experiential and scientific information about vaccines is out there, which I will provide here for your own research. I and the many people who tell the truth of about vaccination and other conspiracies have no vested interests in telling you this stuff, so perhaps it wise of you to question those whose pockets are getting lined, not the hundreds of people who painstakingly gather elusive scientific articles, experiential accounts from parents and victims, etc just for the purpose of informing their fellow human being.

Some parents argue that the reason they so readily cling to vaccines, and line their children up to be inoculated is because they love their children and want to protect them as much…

The Culture of Menstruation (A Period Entry)

Related Article

Japanese researchers recently discovered that stem cells could be harvested from menstrual blood. The implications of this are wonderful since it takes away much of the ethical stigma that followed stem cell research in connection to embryonic harvesting. Here is a link to the article.

Yes, this entry is about periods. If you find periods to be weird or gross, then you probably should stop reading here. I tend to respect most of the physiological processes of the body and regard them with few if any taboos. I was talking with my husband last night about the choices women in western cultures make about what types of feminine products and brands to use during their menstrual period. We noticed the trend that women tend to go with whatever it is that their mothers were using when they first got their periods.

Personally this whole thing came up because I was looking for something more economical and environmentally friendly. During my quest for these options is when the cultural curiosity sprang forth. I had read about menstrual cups a while back and didn't give them much thought, but know I am looking to purchase one. It seems they are most popular in the European countries that have surpassed the United States in the "best places to live" list.

image

For those of you who are new to the cup thing, it is a small, flexible, silicone cup that you insert into the vagina during your period to collect, rather than absorb. It does not interfere with the natural body flora and there has been no reported instances of toxic shock in over 10 years. You wash it and reuse it. They supposedly don't leak, but from the logistics of its utilization I predict there would be some spotting from the liquid not captured by the cup during insertion. A bidet wash or a panty liner could solve that issue. They can be worn longer than pads or tampons, up to 12 hours. They cost anywhere from $18-$45, I've read, but you only need one, as they are supposed to last for up to 10 years with proper care. The implications of using the cup are a healthier, cleaner body, less to no leaks  (reduction in stained laundry), better for the environment (and now that global warming is actually doing enough to alarm the environmentally unconscious its a good step women can take to help mother…

The FDA Gives The Ok, To Clone Our Food!

not-milk-poster-thumbWhat truly bothers me about the approval process that the FDA uses is that they approve things that allow companies to cut corners and produce things cheaper (regardless of their effect on small farmers, the environment, or our long term health) as long as they can say "there is no evidence to suggest that it is unsafe".

First of all cloning is fairly new, especially in its utilization in consumer produce. I hope by now most people realize that the "no evidence" BS doesn't mean they actually looked for evidence of danger via scientific research. It can't and doesn't with the rate that they approve new and experimental technologies. I also wasn't fond of their whole genetic tinkering with produce either.

What's more is that they don't think that genetically tampered with or cloned goods are something we should be aware of when we are out shopping, as there is no kind of label that designates normal food from Dr. Jeckle's freak farm produce. This is something we have the right to know. The FDA likes to pretend, in the public, eye that they are in place as a protective measure for the consumer but all of the things that DON'T have their label like natural herbal remedies, seem to be the safer choice in most cases. As far as I see it the FDA is erasing many of our rights as consumers.

I did a little background research and you'd be surprised how many of the name brand companies commonly use genetically modified produce in their products. I did a little more research and found some studies on genetically modified food being harmful to our health. Why doesn't the FDA know this? Better question is why do they choose to ignore it? The best question is what can WE do about it since "they" don't care?

I don't really want to take the time to get into how dangerous new technologies have turned out to be in the past, but its a reoccurring phenomenon that happens similarly each time (same epidemic different year). For those of us who already feel nice and uncomfortable about…

The Black Hair Issue: Denial

I'd really like to break this thing down. Lots of things have been said, excuses and arguments given and new issues developed as some of us try to correct things. I really want to get into the meat of the issue so here goes.

There is a clear problem with the way black people view themselves and their hair. I say this because we have hair that is most unique from any other group of people on the earth, yet we are the group with the most people trying to alter our hair to conform to some other state. If there were no problem the latter would not be true. Lets look at some of the facts behind this.

Historically we were oppressed because it was convenient for the white man. To justify their actions white people had to create a lasting global image of black people and connect them with everything negative. Our hair being as unique as it is, was not safe from this phenomenon. And this is when the first social aversion to black hair was created.

the People often give props to Madam CJ Walker when they are celebrating their fake Black History Month (I'll explain that later). But I honestly feel that she did more of a disservice to black people than an aid. Creating something to make us look more white is nothing to be proud of. I would feel ok celebrating someone who was a pioneer to natural black hair care. Teaching us and creating product to help us care for our natural hair. Madam CJ Walker created a forum for everyone to sell out. If you are ashamed of your natural hair you are an Uncle Tom. Sorry, but thats the truth. You might act like you love yourself, your people and your history but can you do that and hate your uniquely black hair at the same time? I don't think so. Don't get me wrong, I am not playing that naptural nazi thing. I don't think there is anything wrong with exploring different beauty options that suit your own tastes. The problem I have is the reasons behind everyone claiming they simply, like straight hair. You weren't born thinking straight hair was…

Everything Causes Cancer, No seriously I mean it!

My Take: Building an Anti-Cancer, Anti-illness Lifestyle

I found this article while I was on the search for safe sippy cups for my daughter, as well as safe tupperware for my whole family. That's when I discovered a chemical called Bisphenol A. This chemical was used to create almost everything plastic since the 1990's. It is now under contraversial fire for leaking into our food, water and thus our bodies and causing all types of health disasters. What's really crazy is that if you read down this list of heath crisis that this chemical is causing you can easily link it to a new or popularizing disease or phenomenon in this country.

Anyway I have been saying that everything causes cancer for a very long time, so much to the effect that I can't really occupy my time with trying to avoid caricnogenic agents nor can I spend time advocating to others one what to avoid every second of their lives. Thats a route I started down and quickly realized wasn't feasible. I do keep a mental list of a few common cancer causers that I avoid on the regular, but understand how common all types of these chemicals are my approach has changed. Now my goal is to regularly detoxify the body of these agents, those I am aware of and those I am not, it all gets flushed, and thus avoid the problems associated with exposure. [continue reading]

While Bisphenol A was first synthesized in 1891, the first evidence of its estrogenicity came from experiments in the 1930's feeding BPA to ovariectomised rats (Dodds and Lawson 1936, 1938).

Some wildly popular water bottles are made of polycarbonate

Another compound invented during that era, diethylstilbestrol, turned out to be more powerful as an estrogen, so bisphenol A was shelved... until polymer chemists discovered that it could be polymerized to form polycarbonate plastic. Unfortunately, the ester bond that links BPA monomers to one another to form a polymer is not stable and hence the polymer decays with time, releasing BPA into materials with which it comes into contact, for example food or water.

Bisphenol A is now deeply imbedded in the products of modern consumer society, not just as the building block for polycarbonate plastic (from which it then leaches as the plastic ages) but also in the manufacture of epoxy resins and other plastics, including polysulfone, alkylphenolic, polyalylate, polyester-styrene, and certain polyester resins.

Its uses don't end with the making of plastic. Bisphenol A has been used as an inert ingredient in pesticides (although in the US this has apparently been halted), as a fungicide, antioxidant, flame retardant, rubber chemical, and polyvinyl chloride stabilizer.

These uses create a myriad of exposures for people. Bisphenol A-based polycarbonate is used as a plastic coating for children's teeth to prevent cavities, as a coating in metal cans to prevent the metal from contact with food contents, as the plastic in food containers, refrigerator shelving, baby bottles, water bottles, returnable containers for juice, milk and water, micro-wave ovenware and eating utensils.

Other exposures result from BPA's use in "films, sheets, and laminations; reinforced pipes; floorings; watermain filters; enamels and vanishes; adhesives; artificial teeth; nail polish; compact discs; electric insulators; and as parts of automobiles,…

Ideas on Child Birth

Birth Perspectives: I guess by now most people who know me are well aware of what my views on birth are, at least vaguely. But just because I plan on taking my views from more than just the hobby, or freelance interest to extensive and professional research to finally something that benefits others on hopefully a larger scale that I can fathom or live to see the lasting effects of. A hefty aspiration perhaps, but what is the point of a goal or a dream if it can’t be something huge? Anyway because of this goal I think this is a good opportunity to start putting those thoughts, opinions, theories down clearly on paper or screen rather.

Birth is a natural and NOT inherently dangerous under the circumstances that the body is well cared for via nutrition and that the mind is well cared for via a productive mental environment in which the birthing mother is able to be confident in the capabilities of her natural bodily processes. Also the woman should give birth in an environment that is ACTUALLY safe not socially perceived as safe. What I mean by that is that sometimes we accept things because they are the norm for our time and culture yet they aren’t actually practical or healthy and as times change and more knowledge is gained you may see a huge change from the common practice of what was once the norm. A good example of this is blood letting. It once was common practice, done by health authorities who were respected for their knowledge of health—But is now considered grossly incorrect, unhealthy and DANGEROUS.

It is absolutely idiotic  to believe that nothing we consider good today will be considered backward tomorrow. Whats sad is that we have the power of research behind us to assess whether something is effective or not yet for other reasons which I would like to discuss later are ignored. Its no secret to even those who perpetuate misconceptions that something is very wrong, backward and ineffective about how we “normally” handle pregnant women and birth in…

Contemporary Breast Feeders

Homemade Healthy Formula

"the following "homemade" formula can be given to your baby in place of commercial cows' milk formulas:
1 1/3 cups purified water
1/2 uncooked brown rice
3 tablespoons raisins

simmer 45 minutes then... Place cooked rice and raisin mixture in blender with 1 cup water and blend. Slowly add...

2 tbsp. almonds (freshly ground)
2 tbsp. raw grated beets (1 small)
2 tbsp. grated carrots (1 small)
1 tbsp. sunflower or pumpkin seed (freshly ground)
1/2 cup kiwi fruit, chopped or pureed
1 tbsp. sesame seeds (freshly ground)
1 tbsp. flax oil

Let this mixture cool until it is under 96 degrees. Add:

Unheated raw honey (NOT WHAT YOU NORMALLY SEE IN STORES: I will do an entry on this too but for now you can go here to read about it, its very important to understand honey before you EVER give any to an infant or yourself for that matter)

2 2/3 cups water

Blend again until smooth.

This formula is nutrient rich, a multi-vitamin supplement will probably not be necessary.  If this formula doesn't agree with your child, try leaving out one ingredient at a time to find out which one is causing the problem.  If you have to leave out too many ingredients, a liquid multi-vitamin supplement can be added to make up the difference in nutrients.

Or, a good substitute is raw, unpasteurized goats milk, which is a better match to human breastmilk than cow's milk.  If pasteurized goats milk is all that is available, add a vitamin-mineral supplement and live enzymes. "

I was reading some selected passages from one of those allopathic, technocratic books like the what to expect series in my perspectives on motherhood class. The things that they were saying about breast feeding were so appalling and laughable even. They were giving all of the reasons why one might choose not to breast feed or why one might give up fairly early. The paragraph supporting breast feeding was a little less compelling I must say.

Some of the obstacles that they listed were: that you have to restrict your fashion to wear crappy ugly nursing bras, and stupid, old hag looking nursing blouses. images527WELL! coming from a person who doesn't refer to anything in her wardrobe as a BLOUSE--YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIMIT YOUR WARDROBE. Here are some easy fashion work arounds for HOT MAMAS:

* Demi or 1/4 cup bras: They only cover a small portion of your breast and can fold down or be moved out of the way to reveal your nipple pretty easily. Some of the ones with stiffer cups even work well when you pop your boob out, its kinda hoist it up in the C-hold position but hands free!

* For your tops choose plunge necks as deep as you are comfortable with and tube tops work really well (when you read on you'll see that I also recommend layering in order to preserve your modesty). If your breasts are good at supporting themselves fairly well regardless of size you can opt for one of the tube tops that have a built in liner and go bra-less. This simplifies things quite a bit. And if you are in that leaky stage or are still generally a leaker then you can add some breast pads.

* Speaking of breast pads I really like to use nipple covers as breast pads. They don't work by absorption like traditional breast pads but instead they apply a pressure similar to putting your finger over the source of the leak. So basically none of your milk is wasted. There is actually a brand of silicone breast pads out of this specific purpose but, they run $15 a pack or more and they don't last nearly as long…

Unassisted Childbirth Interview: Laura Shanley

imageThis in an Interview with Laura Shanley who has had 4 Unassisted Births, many of which had what most people consider to be "complications" and is pretty much an expert on letting the body do what its designed to and what its capable of. Hear the views and facts straight from her by clicking here to watch a televised interview with her.

Please note level of skepticism that the female interviewer, in particular, has concerning her confidence in the female human body to successfully gift birth with little to know intervention. Also notice her seeming inability to comprehend Shanley's answers and explanations for the circumstances upon which she has built her lack of confidence in the child birth process. This interview, in and of itself, is a great representation of how most American people as a whole, view child birth and they level of friction experienced when faced with alternative (even if proven better) methods of giving birth.

The Up's & Down's of MY 1st Pregnancy

This is a month by month time line kinda thing of all the +'s and -'s of my pregnancy and how I dealt with and felt about most of it. For those of you who are pregnant now this might be a good heads up read. & just a warning this entry contains some detailed information and a lot of it ain't pretty and some of it is seX-rated so if you're weak in some kinda way that may be effected by reading maybe you should click the back button or refrain from continuing with this article.

Month 1-3:

Morning Sickness - My morning sickness started the night before I took the pregnancy test. I guess this was about 1 - 1.5 weeks after my missed period around the 17th of June. Conception was probably the 28th of May & the first day of my last period before pregnancy was May 13th, so you can see how soon I saw the signs. My body is typically on schedule like clockwork so I we were able to test soon.

My morning sickness consisted first of wonderful 5am trips to the bathroom. And me trying to be discrete about it and not wake my husband up :-/. This lasted for 4 days maybe. Followed by an extremely reduced appetite.
